Rooting your Samsung phone gives you more control and customization options. Usually, you’d need a computer for this, but you can actually do it without one. Here’s how to root your Samsung device and install TWRP recovery without using a PC. This method is based on what I’ve tried, so results can vary, but it’s definitely worth a shot.

Disclaimer
Before you dive in, just know there are risks. Rooting will wipe your data, void your warranty, and disable Knox security features permanently. Make sure to back up your important stuff and only continue if you’re okay with these risks.
Step 1: Enable Developer Options
- Access Developer Options: Head to settings, tap ‘About Phone,’ and tap the ‘Build Number’ a bunch of times till you unlock developer options.
- Enable OEM Unlocking: In those options, turn on ‘OEM Unlocking.’ Just a heads up, some US carriers might not have this option.
- Enable USB Debugging: Also, switch on ‘USB Debugging’ in developer options.
Step 2: Unlock the Bootloader
- Connect to a Windows Phone: Use a USB cable to hook up your Samsung phone to a Windows phone.
- Enter Download Mode: Restart your phone by holding down the volume down and power buttons. When the screen goes blank, press both volume keys quickly to get into download mode.
- Unlock Bootloader: In download mode, press and hold the volume up button to unlock the bootloader. Confirm the warning you see, as this will erase everything.
Step 3: Install TWRP Recovery
- Prepare Files: Make sure you have all the needed files like USB drivers, TWRP recovery, VB meta file, Magisk, and Odin on your Windows phone.
- Open Odin: Start Odin and pick the TWRP Recovery file in the AP slot and the VB meta file in the user set slot.
- Flash TWRP: Uncheck ‘Auto Reboot’ in Odin settings and hit ‘Start’ to flash TWRP onto your Samsung phone.
Step 4: Root Your Samsung Phone
- Boot into TWRP Recovery: After it’s flashed, reboot into TWRP recovery mode by holding volume down and power buttons together, then quickly pressing volume up and power buttons.
- Transfer Magisk File: Get the Magisk APK file onto your Samsung using TWRP.
- Install Magisk: Find the Magisk file in TWRP and install it as a zip. If your storage is encrypted, you might need to sideload Magisk using ADB.
- Reboot and Set Up Magisk: Once done, reboot your phone. Open the Magisk placeholder app to download the latest Magisk app. Follow any setup prompts and do a direct install if it asks.
Verify Root Status
To check if your Samsung phone is rooted, use the Root Checker app. If everything’s working, your phone should be rooted without needing a PC.
Conclusion
Rooting your Samsung phone without a PC is doable with this method, but you’ll need a Windows phone and some tech skills. If this guide helped you, look into more about rooting and customizing your device. And always be cautious and back up your data before making big changes.
